Home stretch

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey lovers! Guess who managed to get her passport replaced just in time to go on holiday? This chick right here. And I didn't even need to cry! Though I did tell the passport officer about my horrible, horrible exam on Monday, so maybe she felt a little bad for me. I dragged my weary [read: hungover] body from Glasgow to Edinburgh, absolutely soaked from the pouring rain, but with a massive grin on my face.

I'm going on holiday tomorrow! Tomorrow! To a place where I don't have to do anything but lounge about and read books and eat Turkish delight and drink Turkish coffee. Hint: it's Turkey. I absolutely cannot wait. All I have to do now is tidy the flat, take the bins out, wash all the dishes, iron all my clothes, buy some more sandals......well. Nearly there.

So this is a little 'goodbye for a week' post. Goodbye stressed, pale, tired Emily - hello slightly less pale, blissed out Emily. Adieu!

Stage fright

Hi there. Hi new followers. Just a wee bit blog-shy, in front of all these welcome strangers. I'm going to do the blogging equivalent of imagining you all naked, to settle my nerves. GOSH. An attractive bunch, aren't you?

I've not done much in the past couple of days [except for refreshing my stats page periodically and giggling gleefully] due to this horrid exam hanging over my head on Monday. I did of course manage to fit in a spot of shopping and a boozy tapas lunch [pigs cheeks and scallops, so decadent. I plan on acquiring an elegant case of gout] - but multitasking is what we women do best.

And there was that spot of bother earlier when I realised that I don't have a passport, yet I'm going on holiday in 4 days. Easily rectifiable, so they tell me. Excuse me while I hyperventilate with relief.

And so, a musical offering. It's some lovely acoustic-y folk-y stuff. I never quite know the genre for it. Indie-folk? Well anyway, here it is, small and half-formed. I'll be back on form soon enough.

Not Grizzly, Just Bare

Hello. CONFESSION: I am a little drunk. Drunk off my new favourite cocktail [my own creation, gin and elderflower and lemongrass. As my flatmate said: I am such a DICK. But I love gin so much]. And in this state of mine, I have of course become generous, doesn't that happen to all of you? My tips increase exponentially when I'm drinking. Poor bank account.

I have again been neglecting you, but with just cause really. I'm back in Edinburgh, back revising for me resit [yes, I failed an exam, it sucks. Sucks so hard.] and still, even though I'm meant to be revising, I find myself in a whirlwind of activity. Not real activity. More cupcake-baking, regency-romance-novel-reading activity. Ask me about Legionnaire's disease - no idea. Ask me about cupcake flavours/how people acted during the war against Napoleon and I am ON IT. It's sad really. I vow, from now on, to focus more and save my reading for my fabulous Turkey trip. And to stop drinking with friends. Except for tonight. And my The Beach/Thai takeaway night. What? It's thematically appropriate.

I'm also very grateful to Blogs Of Note for featuring me as their June 15th Blog of Note. Hi new followers! Stick with me, and I'll show you new and exciting music/slightly exciting music and erroneous chat. For now, I present a Grizzly Bear showcase.
