Oh my GOD guys. I am ridiculously tired. From baking! It's not fun anymore! AND I'm back at uni on Monday and I swear I don't know a mouth from an anus [which isn't ideal when you're doing gastroenterology]. Oh my god I can't believe I just said 'anus'. In polite company! This is the sad sad state that I have fallen into.

You know what's not helped? Salted butter caramel swirl brownies. Yes, it's a mouthful but WHAT a mouthful it is. It's like mouth-crack. Crack for my mouth. [I don't actually know where you put real crack. In your veins? Oh what a sheltered life I've led.]

So here I am, on a Saturday night, reading the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine in bed. I feel like Hermione, reading Hogwarts: A History for a bit of light relief. Speaking of, has anyone else got the new HP film on DVD?

Clue: 2 out of these 3 songs are not new. So sue me.

It's craaaaaaaaaazy times over here in Emily-land. Item one on the agenda; I've been approached about turning my food blog into an app for iphones etc, with photos and recipes which I am obviously VERY EXCITED ABOUT. Um, hello? There's an app for that. Quite literally.

Item two is just another little tale of randomness from my life - I'm going on a date tomorrow. 'Oh, a date? Psshhhhht people go on those all the time, she's not special." Well WAIT ONE SECOND. A date.......that will be filmed. Yes! Filmed. People all around the nation [Edinburgh Uni] are going to know just how awesome I am at first dates. [sidenote - not kidding, I'm kind of awesome. I once went on a date, went home early because I was sick, then accidently bumped into the guy later that night at a bar I got dragged to, and STILL got a second date. I've got mad skillz yo.]

I'm also getting a free hog roast in exchange for taking photos at a ball. If people want to pay me in food then I am fine with that, it's all legal tender to me baby.

Sitting here, with a beautiful [if decaffeinated, gotta think of my sleep patterns] coffee and a fresh baked peanut butter cookie, it occurs to me - I'm going to miss being at home.

And not just for the free food, either. I feel like I've lived a simpler life down here: food, work, run, sleep. It's quite nice to have a limited number of things to do, makes each thing feel self-contained and complete. In my head I'm likening it to when people throw a fancy dress party, and when you ask what the theme is, they say "Anything!". 'Anything' makes me nervous. I don't like 'anything', it's too vague, there's too much choice, so much you can't really think of anything at all that falls within those vast parameters.

Look at me, rambling on. I know what you want - the music I promised you. Well, here it is - a lovely selection of covers, in fact.

I swear it goes from sunset to pitch black in about 15 minutes.

Ellie Goulding - Heartbeats [The Knife cover]
Villagers - Back For Good [Take That cover]
Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Rebellion (Lies) [Arcade Fire cover]
Grizzly Bear - Graceland [Paul Simon cover]
Kate Walsh - A Little Respect [Erasure cover]
Peter Gabriel - Flume [Bon Iver cover]
Greg Brown - Don't Let Me Down [The Beatles cover]
Bon Iver - Simple Man [Graham Nash cover]
Jimmy Fallon (as Bob Dylan) - Charles in Charge
John Legend - Rolling In The Deep [Adele cover]
Alex Winston - The Cave [Mumford and Sons cover]
Strand of Oaks - Ohio [Damien Jurado cover]

Hello beautiful people.

I'm home! And hermitising. [Hermitising (v): from the noun 'hermit', to totally cut oneself off from the outside world. Not necessarily a bad thing.] I'm lucky enough to have a treadmill in my garage, and parents on a health kick, so this is my detox week to blitz blitz blitz and then return to Edinburgh glowing and happy and not sleep deprived.

So...what's been going on since you saw me last? Well, my nose is clear! Yes! Hello nostrils!
I guess since clocks have gone forward, it's technically spring, but I am not happy at all about this. Yeah yeah, daffodils and lambs yadda yadda yadda, so pretty, what is up with it being so light in the evenings, huh? That's pretty much my biggest gripe with it, it's confusing my body clock. I simply cannot eat my dinner when it looks like it's 3pm. Change is not always good.

Hmmm I do feel like I owe you guys some music, but I've not been listening to that much recently, instead embarking on a Criminal Minds marathon [which is awesome, so I don't even feel guilty].
I'm off to the cinema soon with my sister, so I'll be back later avec musique. This is really just a courtesy post, for those of my readers who have requested something other than my sad turtle face.

Sad turtle out!
