Had a bit of an arse of a day. My Blackberry has gone completely schizo on me, refusing to scroll right or left, so off I trotted to the Vodafone shop to sort it aahhhhhhhtt. Cue a faffy 2 hour wait while it rebooted [and still didn't work] so I obviously had to go on a shopping spree, just to pass the time, you know?

And now I have many shopping bags filled with ridiculous things, such as the little tea house filter above, and amazing things, such as a new vest top from H&M with a vampire smiley face on it. How could I resist?

On my saunter home, I saw the incredible Matt Norris And The Moon busking away, like commoners! Commoners! Actually the best buskers ever - very Mumford/Hey Rosetta/harmonies ahoy. Even better, they're playing in Edinburgh on the 5th of March or something. ON IT.

Here's some tunes, I think they're pretty good, certainly worthwhile plugging into your ipod and then traipsing about listening to. If that's what you're into.

Hey Rosetta - Bandages
Villagers - Old Man (Neil Young cover)
Shugo Tokumaru - Rum Hee

I've been baking and procrastinating again! Red velvet cupcakes, cream cheese frosting, marshmallow fondant roses which I painstakingly made by hand [and in doing so got my kitchen table COVERED in pink sticky stuff].

Also, I came across this lovely video by the artist Ryan Woodward which is just...wow. It's lovely, and I can't even IMAGINE how you'd make it. Beautiful. The song is World Spins Madly On by The Weepies [I love those guys].

The best feeling in the world is quite possibly finding out that you have an unexpected 2 day extension on your shitty uni work. AMAZING. Currently recovering from sleep deprivation by zoning out to Beach House and complaining that I didn't nab my leftover caramel-bourbon-croissant-and-butter-pudding from last night's dinner party [would have been an amazing hungover breakfast, am I right?]

In the interests of self awareness [Hi Ben if you're there] I know it's a bit douchey to be blogging. A bit dickheadish. A bit alternative. But [deep breath, Emily], I am a bit of a dickhead.

A dickhead who makes her friends AMAZING BIRTHDAY CAKES. Oh yes. Amazing cakes that she herself is a bit resentful at giving away [I'm sensing a common theme of selfish gluttony here].

James Blake - Case of You (Joni Mitchell cover)
This is from Radio 1's Live Lounge, and it's beautiful. It really is. I must confess, I haven't properly listened to James Blake's eponymous album yet (SHOCK. HORROR.) because I sometimes have a weird aversion to too much messing about with what is essentially a nice voice, but I LOVE this. I love Joni Mitchell, and I love covers, so it's not too much of a surprise really.

Cranberry and white chocolate muffins - a slight antidote to work apathy. Not quite as nice as lying in bed and watching Howl's Moving Castle, but it'll do. Next-up, climbing Arthur's seat for V-day and afternoon tea with scones!

Hoooolaaa, apparent new readers. Look! A smaller stump! And as of Friday, no stump whatsoever, just a stitch free and slightly grotesque hand. Do you know what this means, dear sweet readers?

It means I can do stuff again! Hello knitting, hello baking, hello party planning, hello antiques foraging, hello ridiculous photography, hello fulfilling any and all resolutions, HELLO BLOGGING.

As of this minute I'm lying in my bed at home, absolutely stuffed to the gills with chocolate cake, krispy kremes, brownies and cups of tea [standard].

All this lying about does mean that I'm chock-a-block with new tunes though, [big shout out to thisbonustrack.com] you lucky lucky people.

Alexander - Into The Twilight
US Royalty - Monte Carlo
Local Natives - Stranger Things
Lia Ices - Daphne (ft. Justin Vernon)
Bright Eyes - Shell Games
Alex Winston - Choice Notes
The Naked And Famous - Young Blood
