Hand-rolling truffles is an infinitely more pleasurable task than learning about lipid metabolism. Sticky, luscious, melt-in-your-fingers truffles vs chylomicron remnants? No contest.

It's my best friend's birthday on Wednesday, and I'm making her a lovely box of pampering goodies; Starbucks mug, vanilla syrup, mini marshmallows etc etc, and a little box of handmade truffles. I made mocha truffles, vanilla white chocolate ones, and some oreo truffles as well, and then rolled and dipped them to my heart's content. My stomach does not thank me for it. Oh, and then I dusted them with edible gold powder - how sweet!

I'm off to do some yoga and stretching now, trying to feel less like a person dipped in chocolate, and more like a person only slightly full of chocolate.

Here's a little soupcon of songs, for when you've indulged a little too much, feeling quite lethargic, needing a musical version of some coddling before a probable early night with a cup of something milky.
First Aid Kit - Tangerine
She & Him - Sweet Darlin'
Kings Of Convenience - Love Is No Big Truth
Iron & Wine - Love Vigilantes
Brandi Carlile - The Heartache Can Wait
OneRepublic - Lullaby
Sander Bohlke - The Weight Of Us
Sweet Honey In The Rock - Wade In The Water

weheartit

I am getting ridiculously addicted to fur. Ridiculously. I made myself a little cream fur turban/headband the  other day, complete with little drop pearls, and now I'm buying all the fur I can get my grubby little hands on.

Currently: tailoring a black faux fur coat, made little fur cuffs to turn my pumps into boots, making a muff (!) out of remnants, and then I bought some ludicrously expensive faux mink yesterday to make a hat with.

Ridonkulous.

Currently playing on repeat:
One Hundred and Four - Big Tree
Years/Cleo's Song - JBM
Badges and Badges - Andy Hull/Manchester Orchestra

I think I weird out my flatmate sometimes. I go bounding into her room, my brain spilling over with all the exciting things I want/need in my life, see: antlers, ears, capes, and now fur turbans. "A fur turban?" she asked me sceptically, "like Jafar from Aladdin?"

Well, yes, except with less of the whole 'world domination' thing and more draped in silk, drinking gin gimlets in the middle of the day. It seems rather unlikely that I'm going to be able to find what I want in a shop [isn't that always the way?] so I've decided to make my own.

Small problem - no fur. So I  made a black lace one to tide me over! It's the most immensely fun thing ever, like dressing up but in clothes I can feasibly wear outside. With only a few strange looks.

I think I might put on bangles and dance around to Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros now. Pour me another G&T, will you daaaahhhhling?
